How to clean porcelain tiles: complete maintenance guide

|

One of the main advantages of porcelain tiles is easy maintenance. Because porcelain is compact, non-absorbent and resistant, it takes little effort to keep it looking good for years. Here is how to clean porcelain tiles without damaging them.

Daily cleaning

For regular washing, use warm water and a neutral detergent. Change the water often: washing with dirty water leaves a film that dulls the surface, especially on matt finishes.

Cleaning after installation

The first wash is essential. Use a specific buffered acidic detergent to remove cement grout residues. This step should not be skipped.

Common stains

  • Limescale and water marks: use a slightly acidic detergent.
  • Grease and oil: use an alkaline detergent.
  • Rust: use specific products.
  • Wax or rubbery residues: solvent-based detergents, with care.

Mistakes to avoid

Do not use waxes, oils or polishing products. Porcelain does not need them, and they create a film that traps dirt. Avoid abrasive powders on polished surfaces.
